The Very First Step For
Toilet Training
We
are looking at the the very first
step for toilet training.
Its a bit too early for my baby you say...
not so.
The very first step may be obvious to some, but not others.
Today, we
will focus on simple word association.
Choose a word you will use with your baby to describe
urinating and
bowel movements.
This could be "Wee, Pee-Pee, wizz" and "Poo, Ka-Ka,
Poopy" or any other
words that you feel are suitable.
Then, you can start today. Whenever your precious baby
has done one of
these, you use your chosen word to
describe to baby what they have
done. Babies are very
good at creating word associations. What we are
doing
is creating an association that baby will begin to
connect
with the contents of their nappy.
Dont make a big
fuss or congratulate baby for the nappy
event, just tell them matter of
factly what they have done
in the nappy.
Thats all we will be doing for
step 1.
Early last century, It was a common belief that early toilet
training
was best. It was not uncommon for babies to
have just reached their
first birthday and were fully toilet
trained. To some families this may
be a necessity, but
modern research has shown that this early training
most
often results in frequent accidents and relapses in
underwear
soiling. So current knowledge suggests, wait
until baby is ready, do it
once and do it right.
